Men's guide to shorts

Shorts are no longer confined to the tennis court, gym or long-distance marathon runner but are now the ultimate summer fashion item that should be a staple in every modern man’s wardrobe.
And as we enter our first summer of potentially working from home, what better way to look sharp and stay cool and comfortable as the temperatures rise.

It may not matter what you look like below the waist on your daily video calls, but we think a sharp pair of shorts will fill you with confidence and, at the end of the day, you’ll be ready to go and enjoy that well-earned drink with your mates at the local.

THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT

There’s so much choice when it comes to shorts these days outside of those used for your sport of choice –Bermuda, cargo, board, denim, printed, pleated to name a few. So, it’s no wonder that picking the right short can be a real minefield!
Here at POLITIX, we have pulled out all of the stops to bring you our freshest range of shorts ever to make selecting the right short for you that much easier.
For a starter, all of our shorts are crafted from a super soft stretch BCI cotton, which means you’ll not only look good but you’ll be doing good for the environment, too. Not only that, but we have included a free striped webbing belt with every style so you can get the perfect fit at the waist and add some “WOW” to your outfit.

Our key style for the season is the NORMAN short, which we refer to as our ‘chino short’ or Bermuda if we want to be true to history. It’s made from the same fabric as our hugely successful chinos and comes with all the detail of printed pocket bags, taped side seam, internal coin pocket and branded ingot. We’ve brought these in pre-rolled to sit just below mid-thigh but have a play and see what feels best for you. After all, it’s about feeling comfortable and cool in what you wear.
Not forgetting those that might want to dress down a little, we also have the SYCAMORE short which takes our jean styling into the perfect summer short for casual weekend wear, or maybe even a trip down to the skate park. A super stretch and super soft cotton that can be rolled to suit your style - we suggest it should sit just above the knee to look ultra-cool with a pair of your favourite sneakers.

A FRESH TAKE ON COLOUR

Once you’ve made the decision that it’s time to get those legs out and brave the summer sun, find a fit and style that suits you. The next big decision is what colour to go for…
We’d suggest the best place to start is to look in your wardrobe and see what you may be wearing with your newly purchased short. As a simple rule, if it’s colourful and brash on top, opt for something easier on the legs such as black, navy or tan.

However, if you have a drawer full of black, white and navy tees, then you can get a bit more adventurous with the colours on your shorts and we have some great fresh summer options for you.
Our easy to wear NORMAN shorts come in sky blue, mint and pink for those daring to try something new and bang on trend. If it’s something a bit earthier you’re looking for, why not try our khaki, burgundy or new blue. We’ve got something for everyone.

LIFE’S TOO SHORT

So, you think shorts are for boy scouts and schoolboys only? Think again!

So, you think shorts are for boy scouts and schoolboys only? Think again! A perfectly crafted short is as versatile as any other pant and far more comfortable in the hot summer months. Don’t just look at them as something to throw on when you visit the beach or consign to the wardrobe awaiting your next summer holiday, there’s plenty of opportunity to look and feel cool all summer long.
If you’re looking for something a bit smarter for that summer evening soiree, then our NORMAN short teamed with Mazzo shirt and a blazer is the perfect solution. Wear the shirt tucked-in to look sharp or hanging loose for casual cool, and team with our super comfortable royal boat shoe, no yacht required!

Why not try layering a short sleeve shirt over your favourite tee for a relaxed style, with our fly knit driver being the perfect shoe to wear for any occasion. The best part? We have it in three different colours!
The jean style short doesn’t necessarily mean ‘skater boy’. Turn up to mid-thigh and team with one of our BCI cotton printed polos, and you’re ready to go. Just add a driving shoe or sneaker, pair of aviator shades and plenty of attitude, and you’re ready to go.
And finally, for those that want to keep it super simple and cool, you can’t let summer pass you by without pulling on our NORMAN short in white and one of our statement graphic print tees, life’s never felt so #feelgood.

IN THE SWIM OF THINGS

If you really want to get involved this summer, then printed is the way to go when it comes to beachwear, and our exciting new range of swimwear will be sure to make a splash this coming season.
Our range might be small but it sure packs a punch. We have considered function and fit so they all come with a fixed waistband at the front, elasticated back, zip fly, draw cord and mesh pockets, so you’ll look just as good out of the water as you will do crashing through those waves!

Our three print designs are all inspired by our best-selling shirt collection, and you can even mix and match if you dare. We have an easy to wear navy bamboo, a tile inspired blue and white geometric and the showstopper has to be our jungle fern print, which not only has a matching shirt but polo, too. We are loving this Ace Ventura inspired print, so don’t be a ‘Lew-Who, Za-Her!’ and get in on the action!
